Systemic university counselling and science consulting for universities and scientific institutions
Systemic university counselling and science consulting for universities and scientific institutions
My systemic university counselling is aimed at universities as well as academic institutions outside of traditional university structures. It addresses organisations in the academic system that operate under complex structural, political and social conditions.
In this broader sense, I also see university consulting as academic consulting: the strategic support of academic organisations in development, change and innovation processes. The aim is to support organisations in making their tasks effective, compatible and sustainable.

What characterises systemic university and academic counselling
Universities and academic institutions are not traditional organisations. They are characterised by academic self-administration, multiple management logics, a project-based approach, external funding conditions and a high degree of autonomy for the people involved. My systemic university and academic counselling takes precisely these special features into account. It connects:
- organisational and systems theory perspectives
- Knowledge of the science system and its governance structures
- working with people, roles and relationships
- A clear focus on impact and sustainability
The focus is always on the interplay between structure, culture and room for manoeuvre.
Topics and occasions for university and academic counselling
I support universities and scientific institutions with, among other things
- University and academic development (strategic processes, organisational and structural development)
- Organisation of governance and decision-making structures (interaction between management, committees, projects and administration)
- Support for innovation, funding and development projects (e.g. in the context of study, teaching, research or third-space structures)
- Change and transformation processes (e.g. in the course of reforms, new task profiles or programmes)
- Interface and translation work between scientific logic, management, administration and funding logic

How I work
My work is systemic, dialogue-based and context-sensitive. I work according to the issue and the assignment:
- as a systemic university and science consultant
- as a coach for people in responsible roles
- as a trainer in science-related further education formats
- as a moderator of development, decision-making and reflection processes
Consulting, coaching, training and moderation are not combined in isolation, but are tailored to the organisation, assignment and target group.
Who I work for
My university and academic counselling is aimed at:
- Universities
- Non-university research institutions
- Scientific institutions and foundations
- Institutions of science management
- Managers, project managers and designers of development processes
I work with individuals as well as with groups, projects and organisations.
Attitude and aspiration
My advice is:
- Science-orientated - based on research and discourse
- practice-oriented - can be linked to real organisational conditions
- Reflective - with room for role clarification and change of perspective
- Impact-orientated - with a view to sustainability instead of short-term solutions
The aim is to expand options for action, create orientation and provide professional support for development processes in the science system.
